Sad Day at the Martin Home

Sweet Jack the night we got him.

Jack and Jake (I know kind of confusing)

Well I kept thinking I would put these pictures on and share that we had gotten this little guy, but somehow I never did get around to sharing him. We got him October 23, and his name WAS Jack. Kade just showed up with him one night after work and as smart as he is... he showed him to the kids BEFORE he showed him to me. So how was I supposed to make him take him back after Kadence and Kash fell madly in LOVE with him. So he was instantly apart of our family. I will be honest I was not thrilled with having another dog, but after a while he grew on me. It was so fun to see how excited the kids got about him... and puppies are adorable! I know though that they don't stay puppies and pretty soon that would be another dog dragging deer carcasses and cow bones on my lawn, and MORE poop. Well I guess I never have to worry about that, because today I accidentally ran Jack over with my car. What a day it has been. Thankfully Kadence didn't see or hear or even know what is going on and she still doesn't. We are not sure whether we are going to tell her what happened or just let it go and let him not show up around home or what.

I have been really sick for the last four miserable days, I thought it was my lymph node but after going to a specialist today he wants to take my tonsils out as soon as we can swing it. GREAT!! Anyway I had two doctors appts today and I had the kids in the car and was pulling out of my house and up the road. Jack has started chasing our cars as we leave the last few weeks and we yell at him out the window and get out sometimes and tell him to go home etc.. but today I didn't even get the chance. There was a thump and I looked in my mirror and he was in the road. So stopped and got out, the kids were content and of course had no idea what was going on. I thought at first it was Jake our other dog who we have had for almost 5 years and I was really freaked about that, then I saw it was sweet Jack and I was so sad and felt terrible. I kept trying to call Kade to see what I should do I didn't want him to suffer, but it wasn't long and he wasn't suffering anymore. So sad. Jake our grown dog was going crazy, he was the one totally freaking out, I felt so bad and didn't know what to do so I put Jake in my car and headed to town to the doctor. Miraculously I kept total composure so the kids never knew anything except Kadence kept saying "Why is Jake in the car with us?" and I said "Oh he is just missing Daddy so we are just going to take him and surprise dad?, sound good?" Then she said "Well I think Jack is missing me mom we better go get him too!" I was thinking oh I don't think he is darling.

Anyway... what a sad day in the Martin home. Hopefully Kade and I will be the only ones that really feel the effects for a few days... the dogs are outside all the time and since the weather is cold the kids don't play with the dogs every single day. Hopefully we have a few days to let it blow over or to decide what to do about it. Bummer day!

Oh, I'm sorry! It's so hard to lose a dog that you love and I'm sure it's even harder when your kids love it. Good luck with your tonsils.

Oh no! So sad! Why do they have to chase cars?! Hope it all works out, and your kids don't ask about it! :) What cute dogs though! We had one like that too, and actually within a week of bringing him home, my mom ran over him!

I'm so sorry!!! I hope you get feeling better. I had my tonsils out when I was 20 and it was not fun (unless you consider the fact that you are forced to eat ice cream!!!!) Anyway, hope things get better!

Oh I'm so sorry Nicole. Not a fun day at all. If it makes you feel any better, I ran over the Moon's dog the Christmas before last. I was crying so hard I could barely tell them what happened. It was so embarrassing.

Hope you feel better soon!

What cute dogs! Sorry to hear about what happened! Sooo sad! {HUG}

About the 365 kit...It is sold out and I don't think they can get more until later this spring or summer. The Creating Keepsakes blog (beckys) has more info and even free down loades.

I don't think you need the kit. Lot's of cute ideas out there w/ out the kit. Here are a few blogs to look at:

Oh no! I'm so sorry that you and your family had such a tough day! My heart and prayers go out to you. It's amazing to read about how awesome you reacted to the situation, I don't know many that would have held it together so well. I hope that you are feeling better now too with your cold and everything.

Take care Sweetie, (((hugs)))

Thank you so much for the advice it helped a lot! I really appreciate everyones opinion. I did stop breast feeding and she is doing really good with the formula, I do plan on waiting until a year to do the vitamin D milk. I think it'll be pretty hard doing the whole binkie weening thing, she loves that thing! She only has one little tooth. Well thanks again!

Oh, so sorry that happened! Good luck with it all - that's why we don't have any big pets, Brianna was sad enough when her fish died...and then her next fish...and then her snail - but I think fish are easier than dogs or cats. I hope you're feeling better, too!

I'm so sorry, what a sad thing to have happen! I wish I could get my dogs to read this so they would understand why we tell them to stop all the chasing cars they are so fond of.
I do love that like us, another dog to you means deer carcasses in the yard.
I hope you feel better soon!

Oh how sad. I did that once, but it was our cat. She was only a few months old and the kids knew what happened. She growled for about 5 seconds and then went silent. I felt so bad. The kids got to see her and help dad bury her.
